Yesterday’s Bake

Yesterday, I made Paul Hollywood’s Basic White Bread. I generally prefer whole wheat, but this was for my kids to make sandwiches for dinner.

It also gave me a chance to use my wife’s new aluminum loaf tin.

Before the second rise

Overall, I’m happy with how it came out, though I think it could have proved slightly longer during the second rise.

After the second rise, right before it went in the oven

You can see how it pulled apart just a little in the oven.

Fresh and hot out of the tin

The height was acceptable, and the texture and flavor were good for sandwiches (I had a curry chicken salad on mine). It was also very enjoyable with just butter 😋

I’ll look forward to trying it again. My kids have already demanded more (we finished the whole loaf yesterday).
