Cocktail: The Tea Clipper

A mason jar with an iced beverage in it sits on a countertop in front of a liquor bottle, a small aluminum can, and a jar with a golden colored syrup.

This was my first attempt at mixing a cocktail that used a spirit “alternative” (something deliberately created and marketed as a non-alcoholic alternative to a traditional spirit). This one featured The Spirit of Gin from Free Spirits. It was pretty decent.

  • 2 1/2 oz Free Spirits Spirit of Gin
  • 1 oz Earl Grey honey syrup
  • 3-4 oz tonic

Mix the spirit of gin and honey syrup in a shaker with ice and pour into a Collins glass or mason jar over fresh ice. Top with the tonic and garnish with a twist of lemon.

The recipe was from Free Spirits.

The honey syrup was made with several tablespoons of honey added to 8oz of strong Earl Grey tea (I used the decaf Earl Grey from The Whistling Kettle).
