“Public” Higher Ed?

Wouldn’t it be great if Gov. Hochul and the Legislature decided to get serious about making college “affordable” by actually funding public schools, instead of complaining about the FAFSA? There’s no good reason we shouldn’t make attendance at a SUNY school completely free for any resident of New York who wanted to attend and was academically qualified, just like we do with public schools pre-K through 12th grade.

Incidentally, I also think the state should fund public trade schools: why should someone be able to study history, mathematics, literature, or astronomy (let alone “business”) on the public’s dime but not plumbing or welding or carpentry?
